Getting Real with Community Impact Assessment and Outreach

Welcome to our wiki...a forum for sharing methods for reaching out to the public and stakeholder groups for planners. This wiki was started by the Raleigh office of The Louis Berger Group, Inc. to facilitate communication and cooperation among planners who need innovative public involvement techniques.  It was specifically developed in conjunction with a poster at the Transportation Research Board conference in January 2008, and with a paper and presentation at the Tools of the Trade: Transportation for Small and Medium Sized Communities conference in Portland in September, 2008.  You may be interested to see the Portland Conference paper (Clayton_TRBPortlandConf.pdf), which has much of the information contained on this site, and the Town of Clayton Strategic Growth Plan and Town of Morrisville Land Use and Transportation Plans that are referenced in the paper.

On the Effective Practices page, you will find the following information:

  • Type of Impact Assessment or Outreach Method
  • Benefits
  • Applications
  • Costs
  • Contact Information

There are also links to More Resources
